Complete Guide for modifying firmware of S40!!!!!!!

Hey guys this guide is for all the newbies who don't know how to create a modified ppm and flash it to the phone


First of all download your phone's firmware(I recommend using NAVIFIRM)
suppose you have navifirm,using Navifirm download your phone's firmware(only download .ppm, mcusw & .cnt files)

FAQ
1.what is .ppm file?
Ans: it is a file from the firmware which contains all icons,tones,fonts,languages availabe

2.what is .cnt?
Ans: it contains all the contents themes,games,apps,wallpapers provided in a new phone...
now some intro to m0dding


PPMEDITOR- its a PC app. to create or modify .ppm file (I had uploaded two versions, One of them is lite, lite one cannot create a ppm)

NMT- its an alternative to PPMeditor(good for newbies)

Rest all the tutorials are provided in the attachments...

      We can't delete the tones provided by nokia coz they are in ROM (read only memory) of your phone :)

    It has a separate tutorial. If u want to delete/change default ringtones you have to modify CNT/image file of your phone. You can change everything including your default theme of nokia. But I have lost interest in blogging & s40 phones as you may have noticed it that I have not updated blog since august. Now s40 has became vintage phone. Just old. Not gonna update anymore tutorials on s40.

      Bhai, you can't find it in your phone,
      You need to download the firmware of your phone (like Rm-578 for Nokia 2730c) from navifirm and flash it to your phone
      using either JAF or Phoenix!!

    Hey Sachin. I recently flashed my nokia mobile, but in the orange home screen window, it shows only date,month and year, but there is no "day". I saw your image http://i49.tinypic.com/etd285.jpg , where I can see the day i.e. "Sun". Help me out....

      Hello Bappa,
      IF you want to change font you have to edit your phone's ppm file.
      Download PPMod for editing your ppm file.
      Open Your ppm
      you will see a tree.
      expand tree you will find 'VFNT' in it.
      replace fonts from VFNT by right clicking on font and selecting import from binary.
      Just don't add fonts to empty spaces.
      Done

    Nice post ,,, i just want to know only one thing how can i delete the "delete function" so no can delete anything like sms or call history from mobile (Asha 308)...is it possible... or any other way
